Odd part is the recession yet brokers thinking work is going to magically appear when shopping is down.

Yeah, typically there is more work in November December. But big box stores have a lot of inventory. So it's hard to see what will happen. At least from what I know.

    Beaver9 and LoneRanger Thank this.

How does that make sense? Since I've been trucking back in the 90's two of the best months have always been September through to November & eventually it starts to slow down dramatically right before December. Sounds like they're saying that the moved the Christmas day or something.!

nope, they just overstocked on the front end.....
Target and Walmart work to give shoppers more value this holiday season (consumeraffairs.com)
A recent report from ConsumerAffairs found that many major retailers, including Target and Walmart, could be offering such great deals for the holiday season because of overstocked inventory. Trends during the pandemic shifted from booking travel to buying items, and with things swinging back in the opposite direction, companies are left with lots of stuff.

As the largest brick-and-mortar retailer in the United States, Walmart holds significant influence in the industry. It appears that the Arkansas-based retailer is not alone in its current struggles. Big box competitor Target also has announced that it will rely on deep discounting to rid itself of excess inventory, loungewear, home goods, and electronics. And convenience store chain 7-Eleven also recently cut at least 900 corporate jobs. Walmart Is Facing Inflation, Overstock, and Overstaffing (businessinsider.com)

If you were betting on the Christmas season to pull your tail out of the fire, you made a bad bet.

Most definitely right on all fronts. Currently I’m doing ok. Paid off equipment and paying bills, but in all reality this isnt going to improve much where rates can handle these new trucks people bought last year.
