I've been preaching this for years. most drivers either don't know or don't WANT to know how hard they're working for the money they're making.
these numbers are actually off a little. you need to subtract 10 hours a day for your off time - nobody gets paid to sleep. that leaves you with 98 hours. although there is a good chance you'll put in more than 14 hours a day depending on your type of trucking (not on your log though, of course.) also, there are plenty of drivers not making anywhere near $800 a week right now. but $4-5 dollars an hour is pretty typical as slow as freight is right now.
not if you figure anything over 40 at time and a half. that would come out to $8.42 an hour. other drivers will convince themselves that they make around $19.50 an hour (65 MPH X 30CPM,) but they're only BSing themselves. -
See, it's not just trucking companies with misleading recruitment videos!cynicalsailor Thanks this.

Can be a good thing but you must first think about the cost of running this truck ,fuel ,tires, ect, ect I have done it time after time it will pay you good if you do a lot of the work yourself that is most all the work it is like the truck is your wife with out the real enjoyment you must understand that it is your life and not a game you must keep the cost down .I have made a lot more money running out 300 miles and back then running all 48 so if you buy a truck maske sure that you can pay all of the cost for it the hours you put in will pay if you run short miles the fuel cost is not as much and you can do more runs that pays you better. HEY YOU THE ONE AND ONLY.......
Double L Thanks this. -
