1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Good company to start with?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm adding another possibliity Roehl. I'm interested in their 7/7 and 14/7 programs. Any Roehl drivers out there can verify these programs and tell me more about them. Keep in mind I'm in Cedar Rapids, IA if that makes a difference. Also I have contacted CRETE which is one of my possibles and they do hire drivers from the school I'm going to starting in March.

Quick question. I see Crete/schaffer are different companies and you have to apply to each one. If I understand correctly Crete is dry van and Schaffer is refrigerated. Correct? With the economy the way it is, wouldn't refrigerated be better for milage since I'm assuming you would be hauling food products and everyone has to eat right? Or am I wrong?

Yes, they do, but the nice thing about reefers is they can also haul dry freight! That's 2 different commodities hauled by 1 trailer.

So then Reefers would be the better way to go then?

Hello, I'm new at this website, and I would like to ask if, anyone knows a good company for owner operator here in PA. I have 4 years of experience, and I have been wasting my time with company that are hiring, but when I get hired they only give me 1 trip a week, or none at all. I really don't know where else to apply, I want a company that gives me loads everyday, and that pays good. I'm currently with a company that runs all northeast, but they are not giving me loads. The last time I did a run was a week ago, and they have not called me yet. I really need to find me a good company, so any suggestion are welcome.

Hope to hear from someone soon,

    thanks:biggrin_2553:

Thanks for your help and ideas everyone. However, there has been a little hitch in my giddy-up. Butt-Pirate Trucking has resubmitted the info on my DAC. I spoke to someone at HireRight (DAC services) and they said since the info had been put back on my DAC the only thing I could do was to..
1.) Ask the carrier to remove the information. I can't tell you how well that worked.
2.) Sue them and have the courts force the retraction. Too much time and money at this time. BUT I have already given all the information pertaining to these J.O.'s and as of right now we are in a wait and see mode. We have to wait to see what action, if any these people take.
3.) A rep at DAC said my final option would be to attached a statement to my DAC telling my side of the story. She said it couldn't be a novel , in fact it had to be 100 words or less.

So right now I have to wait and see what they do. If they go after me it the lawyer says he's ready and thinks based on my testimony and documentation we have a very strong case. If not I can hit the road. All I can do is wait for the next few weeks and it really sucks. I was denied unemployment so we just have my wifes income to reley on.

I'll keep you all up to date on what happens in the next episode of..
