    Both are not CB radios.

That said there are many good ones that the truckers on this forum use many of them have been made for decades.
I would stick with a real CB radio and if you need a bit of power get a amp to back it up.

    Connex 3300 HP.
#1.Been around for ever and are rock solid.
#2.The new mosfet radios have a little more noise in the receive than the older ones but its not bad.
#3.Still one of the best sounding radios you can get!

    Stryker 440 or 490.
#1.Been around a few years but they are not nearly as well built as the Connexs.

#2.Has at least 2 S units ( or pounds ) of noise showing on the meter at all times. Stryker knows this but WILL NOT fix it! They radios are known to have one of the worst receives of any radio on the market today.

#3.Radios sound really good when set up by someone with a clue but get some fool in there maxing the radio out and they sound like crap. They will also not last long maxed out,not as long as other radio anyway. (You do a basic tune on these radios, set the dead key to around 7 to 10 watts, dont clip the limiter and THATS IT!)

Since they cost about the same i would get a Connex before i got the Stryker. If you want a radio that lights up like the Stryker then Connex has the new 3900hp ( i think ) for around $300 that changes 7 different colors and does 50 watts. Hell i have gotten 2 almost new 440's from drivers for under $150 because they could not stand the noise in the receive. I have also had 5 of these things since they came out ( one 490 ) and they all had the same problem.

If you have your heart set on a stryker then just dont crank the radio up to the max or it will sound like crap........but your going to hate the receive:yes2557:

Thunder is referring to the Connex 3400 HP which uses a slightly different board than the 3300 HP. Switch positions and features are also different as well i.e. variable power front mounted external speaker jack. It's a sharp looking rig and I do own one and like SOME the features. As mentioned who ever sets the radio up, fully aligned and uses a tone generator for the RX plays a big part of whether the radio (regardless of model) sounds like poo. Al # Sparky's did mine with good results. Also have a 3300HP and Stryker 440 they are both good when set up correctly.. But for commerical drivers be aware that the cab of your truck will be lit up like the 4th of July with the 440 or the 3400 even on dim. Just my 02. cents.

Here is pix of the 3400 I have other pix of all 5 color options. If interested you guys can pm me and you can see them all.

I had a Connex 3300HP years ago, it had finals not mosfet....that radio was LOUD and got compliments on the audio all the time....it was bought from and set up by the cb shop at x-29 on I-80 in PA (can't remember the shops name) but they closed up years ago..

I ran a Stryker 490HP bought from and set up by Rolling Radios in Richmond, VA.....great audio on that rig, very loud and clean, then I made the mistake of selling it (hows it working out Flying Dutchman ??) LOL

As stated above a lot of it is your set up, choosing a good shop is key...good luck !!
