Not only Australia, but I'm sure by now everyone has noticed DX on every channel...Complaining about all the DX on channel 19 right now, and wishing people would go to another channel to shoot skip ain't going to happen!

Nothing you can do about it for the next several years as the 7 year cycle kicks into high-gear, so take a "chill-pill" sit back and enjoy the ride...:D

I've always wanted a Cobra 2000. Now that I'm getting divorced, I can actually set my station up!

Best Base radio ever made (IMO).....

I have a RCI 2980 also, paired-up with a 1x4 base amp which does more power out than my 2000 set-up, but I get more complements and make more contacts with the 2000 and Palomar 300A with a little less power out on the same antenna...

"IF" your thinking of getting a 2000 GTL, I wouldn't wait too long, because with DX heating back up, the good 2000's will start selling for stupid money on ebay and other sites.

Last I checked, there's several nice looking 2000's listed on ebay averaging between $250-$600........And then there's the ridiculous price "superhawk" want's for one that should probably be priced closer to $400 mark... COBRA 2000GTL AM/SSB IN BOX *BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL 1OWNER ALL STOCK HARD TO FIND | eBay

Jesse, you said the 2000GTL was the best base station ever made. Well if I can make an amendment and here is why. Back in 1979 I managed to buy the President Madison base radio for $400.00... Ouch.
I loved the black face and the round meters, plus matching external speaker. The receiver was so quiet. Plus I got a new Super Scanner antenna. It was the best CB base station setup I ever had. A few years ago I found out that Uniden made radios for several different companies, and that the Cobra 2000 and the Madison radios had the same boards inside. So I guess you could say they were the same on the inside, but just a different look on the outside. So my amendment would say that both the Cobra 2000 and the President Madison were the best base stations ever made.
Out of curiosity I checked the eBay link you provided and no surprise, superhawk still has the 2000. I believe he must think the original box is worth $500 in order to ask for that much money...ha.

wouldn't surprise me about the Madison and Cobra 2000's having the same board, think they even had the same meters as the Cobra 142 GTL...I know the 148's also used the same board, and since lot's of different brands use the same manufacturing plants, there should be no surprise the same parts end up in different brand radios.
