Yeah they have had mandatory duty status for all road/dot/police/emergency workers.
They gave a grace period for folks who were stranded/stuck on the "snow emergency" routes....that's over today. They'll start towing to clear those roads.
Heck even the Wal Mart was closed. How often do you see that happening? -
I had one Jack knife, I was in Second gear, I drive a 10 speed. so you can't say I was going to fast. The driveway was all Ice, (freezing rain). Another truck started to back out in front of me and all I did was let off of the fuel. that was all it took for my rig to jack knife, and No breaking was going to stop it. I was just glad that I didn't hit anyone else. Just did Ferring damage on my own truck.

I am sorry but I drove thru that mess if they had stop using rolling road blocks and cleared the snow (maybe even drop the plows to clear as they were running road blocks )they would not have have had half the problems. the strech from just below Was to Balt was a total mess once you got above Balt were they were treating and clearing the roads were clear. I heard parts of my truck rattle i did not know could rattle from all the ruts.

I for one find it amazing how someone whom probably has never seen the inside of a truck is so knowledgable about trucking and what causes accidents!

Makes real sense to compare a truck to an airplane.
The airplane will fly in the sky with nothing to be closer than 1/2 mile or so. The truck drives with vehicles within 3 feet of it.
The airplane lands on a runway with no other vehicles present. The truck shares the road with many vehicles within 3 feet of it.
The runway will be shut down if there is a couple of inches and the airplane will not leave the airport. The truck must drive on slick roads. -
Every single one of those examples of other professions is something that happens though.
A while back, in a highly publicised event, a pilot overshot a runway...by 100 miles.
medical tools, especially retractors and gauze are pretty commonly left in patients accidently. They have 100s of tools in use in a procedure and its hard to count them without screwing up. -

Speed generally has something to do with it,majority "Yes" but many trucks get out of shape at low speeds as well.
Ive had my wagon try to pass me several times while rolling well under 35mph on level ground,they will also come around going up hill under reasonable speed for conditions.
People need to understand they do not control what they think they do,you can be all the "ready" you want to be,but guess who ends up screaming like a girl and crapping their pants ?
I pity people that fail to understand the entire simplicity of life sometimes.
The wake up call many of you are inevitably going to experience
whether its a steer blow,jack knife or whatever that isn't safely contained in a comfy on line forum free of reality.
When it does happen the only thing you will have if you survive is the fact that it did.All the "How To's" and Heroic BS no longer matters when your taking a dirt nap or a hook is latched to your rig for a ride to the barn.
