14l EGR Jake brake

    Hey guys, 14l Detroit ddec v here that’s been moded wondering if there ever was a solution to fix the weak Jake brake that came with a 171702…

    Probably not. The vgt played a big part in the Jake performance. Run the rpms up a little higher when using the Jake

    Tried that, seemed the same from 1500 to 1900.
    turbo would max out at 9 psi. I wonder if swapping out the engine brake of a pre emissions 14l would work.
    So far some solutions are adding a exaust brake like blue ox to work alongside the engine brake, changing out the cams( not sure on s60), or just switching back to the vgt turbo.

    I guess a side question would be if the vgt turbo could run reliably without an egr or cooler? For off road purposes….
