I'd move it to an RFI or LFI.

I’ve been driving over a decade and before that worked at a Goodyear truck tire plant.

I would feel comfortable running that tire for the day but would change it out at earliest free time I had. Unless you can see the steel then I wouldn’t run it at all except to a tire shop. Even if you take safety out of the equation completely, a blow out as previously mentioned is much more of a financial risk then replacing it.

Maybe on a local trailer that doesn’t really do much, no way I’d run it down the highway every day

I would drive it. Right into the repair bay at the closest place. If that's more than 25 miles it isn't moving before the service truck arrives and swaps it. Elog the pre-trip, send message to FM and maintenance, if that doesn't yield results straight to safety and HR. If none of that gets satisfactory results I am looking for a new carrier. But hey, I am just a dumb driver, and it is only my CDL at risk.

As long as the gashes aren't any deeper then the depth of the surface “branding” layer of rubber. About 2/32’s max. Deeper then that and it is too close to exposing the steel ply or it’s overlay ply.

I’d recommend dropping air psi down about 10 to release some pressure from pushing through the injury from inside.
Use cautiously and gently, replace it asap, and have it bead cut and scrapped so it cannot be put back in service.

If no cords are showing, you are still in DOT compliance n good to go.
