Cargo in Claremont NC does take students. In fact, even a few years ago, you would never have seen an ad for a Cargo job .. now they are in the paper all the time. Hiring newbies and oldtimers are losing miles. Since Tony Pope died .. the company has fallen apart. No miles! I work for them now and have for a couple of years .. can't wait to get out.

I stand corrected about Cargo...not only do they take students, as stated above, but one of the guys in my class has apparently landed a job with them, provided his physical/drug screen and orientation goes well.

Class is still going well for me, I'm learning more every day. When they finally let us out on the road, I came to understand just how much is involved in driving a tractor trailer on the road...its not as easy as it looks! And man, some of the people you share the road with don't try to make it any easier!

I'm still looking at various companies, too...I haven't committed to any one, but I'm looking real hard at Swift and TMC.

If you care about being home, I would try to get on with Cargo.

Howard Transportation has automatics. They do have a NC terminal & terminals in other states.

    No, just flatbed.

    Try these 100% automatics:

    Halvor Lines
    TransAm

    Don't know anything about Westside.
    Watkins-Shepard has some automatics.
Bay & Bay may have some.
