Sorry for the explanation. I’m bad at explaining things. He pays the fuel. But I get 40% of the gross minus fuel. So let’s say I gross $10,000 for the week. And fuel is $4,000 for the week. I would get 40% of $6,000. I’ve had many people say I should get 60% and I’m getting screwed. I’m not very smart and I’m scared I’m getting used. Ty for helping me

If the guy you are driving for is paying for the truck, the fuel and everything else, what you are getting paid is referred to as "linehaul" pay. If you had to pay for the fuel, then I would expect 60%, if it was me. But if not, then no biggie. I don't think you're getting screwed. If off a 4k load, you're getting 2k of that, that's decent pay. It would be about the same as one company I drove for that paid 27%, except that was of the gross pay. And they paid for all the fuel and everything to operate the truck. I don't think you have a bad deal really but that is of course my opinion.

Yes. My goal is to learn the spot market, running lanes, how to negotiate. Basically learn how to be an owner op with minimal risk

That’s kind of what confuses me. I’m not a smart person. He pays for it but it comes out the gross that I get 40% of. So many people say I’m getting screwed. I need y’all’s input. Idk if I am getting screwed or not

If that makes sense. For example I book a load for 1000. It costs 200 in fuel. I get 40% of 800. So even though he pays for it it’s almost like I’m paying for it. Does this sound like a fair deal?

Ok so if I book a load for 1000 and fuel is 200. I get 40% of 800. So he pays but it is deducted from what I get 40% of. Everyone says I should get 60 not 40. I’m asking for help as to is this a fair deal or should I get 60%. I m lost
