This may not work for everyone. When I started driving OTR, I talked to my landlord. She upgraded me to a decent priced 2 bedroom apt in the same building & I got a responsible trustworthy roommate. I still had a nice apartment and paid $$ less! I did that for almost 10 years with roommates & eventually bought a house. Now, I rent out 2 bedrooms in my house. It's been a good side business, $7500/year passive income.
