If the digital version would have been available when I ordered mine I would have tried them, but I didn’t see the point in small mirrors without the cameras so I got the full size on mine. I really like them mounted on the cab instead of the door on the 579.

The company that is working on the camera mirrors is one and the same that put together the digital dash. I have seen the prototypes on demo units and they are indeed cool. I think the hurdle is getting past DOT and having a physical reflective mirror and not just a screen that could quit working at any moment and you would be blind.

    I saw one yesterday
The Truck next to me was backing in. He had 2 large screens on the passenger’s side. I’m sure it’s better than a mirror only. I’ll stick with my mirrors. Still not sold on a lot of the technology everyone’s using. Last week I missed a turn, looking at my phone’s gps map. Lol. Haven’t done that in a while. Had I just been reading the road signs, it wouldn’t have happened.

I have to ask. What kind of payments are we talking about for a $225k Truck? $25k down,$200k financed? 48,60,72 mos? $4000,$3400,$2800 per mo.?? Lease financing with 20% residuals? I can’t imagine. My calculator only goes up to 100k. Hard to justify the depreciation to me. Even with good fuel economy and lower maintenance costs. Seems to me, the only way it might be beneficial, is to trade every 3 yrs. or less.

I couldn’t stand that. Don’t even want a GPS screen. Took the running/ turn signal lights off my mirrors because they bugged me. My iPhone gps is plenty. One device for everything. It’s really amazing. Still hard to believe.

The only thing that would be nice is the camera will follow the back of your trailer. So you will always have a clear view when cornering and backing.

Using 9% interest, since I know that is a quoted rate from Daimler, and financing $200,000 on an outright purchase:

    48 month = $4977
    60 month = $4152
    72 month = $3605

We have gone 100 percent digital screens on planes. The tech is there for planes, so a truck mirror shouldn't be hard.

Siinman, Rideandrepair and dwells40 Thank this.
