I have to ask, and NOT trying to start a war....but why do you prefer to.run your straps over the rub rail?

Don’t know. Just always have. About the only time I put them inside is when I tarp.

 

I have to admit I usually do the same. I know where some of you guys run, some states can be pretty fussy about it but everywhere I operate nobody seems to care anymore. I got hassled in Vermont once for hooking them to the rub rail but nobody seems to care about that anymore either

 

The problem is, you sticking a knife into a plug socket nobody would care either. It's not something I'd suggest, though.
