The thing you don’t seem to get is that every one of us are one bad thing away from starting over. Yes, even you. #### happens… don’t be so impressed with yourself. It’ll hurt when that high horse bucks you off.

The thing I get is that every one of us are one bad thing from game over.
I'm not impressed with myself, it's the opposite.

I'm coming up on 12 years running under my own authority and have faced the fire a time or three, even faced a similar situation with a truck down not worth spending overhaul money on. Twice, and handled it differently each time due to prevailing circumstances. I'm not just making this up. When I say I appreciate and admire how @rollin coal is managing this, I'm not just guessing what it's like. I know first hand.

If you don't want to listen to the voice of experience, I got nothing else. You clearly aren't going to get it.

If you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

PS: 11.3% idle time is how it's done. I'm a climate control wuss and haven't achieved that yet. Down to 15%, but mostly because I will do longer warm ups and not short cut cool down idling until they take the keys out of my cold dead hands.

How much cash do you have on hand right now? You know, I like real numbers. Not like
the hot balloons you're trying to sell me.

For heaven sake….rollin already outlined what is going on. Anyone who has been paying attention for the last decade knows all about his plight. He made a promise to himself not to go into debt to bail his business out if he got into a jam. He used his reserves to finance personal interests/investments. He took a risk and drained reserves hoping to replenish before a catastrophe. Truck goes down, he kept his promise to himself not to go into debt to bail his business out. He’s doing just fine and we would all do well to take a page out of his book. He has a personal equity position better than mine…and I’ve been running my own numbers for a quarter of a century! If he chooses to get his business back on it’s feet the old fashioned way (which most of us choose debt instead), I, for one, will root for him….not only for his prosperity….but some of us will miss him if he leaves this industry and becomes a real estate tycoon!
