I'm currently a local, home daily driver with weekends off flirting with the idea of going regional with another company.
New company would be more pay and way better benefits, but the thought of going back out on the road is kind of intimidating.

Will the pay and benefits compensate for your dislike of the position? Why take a job that you hate and will quit after 3 weeks?
-
Lol I think I can last longer than 3 weeks. Main thing is that rent is getting expensive and my current commute too long for my liking.
-
So, if you EITHER move closer to your job OR found cheaper rent, you would be cool? And getting both would be…?singlescrewshaker, bentstrider83 and tscottme Thank this.

I've been looking, but vacancies closer to work are low. Cheaper would put me further away and/or in higher crime areasinglescrewshaker Thanks this.

What is your location? And what is the companies definition of regional?
-
Do you and your supervisor have a decent working relationship? He make know of a place or someone who knows a place.
-
Indiana. Midwest regional
-
It sounds like you understand the situation very well. Please don't calculate your future regional paychecks assuming you get 3,000 miles per week. Make the company put you in contact with current drivers working for the same account and then ask them open-ended questions about the pay, schedule, equipment, etc at the regional company. Don't compare the recruiter's optimistic theoretical maximum possibility with the comfortable current job unless the regional job has a pay guarantee.

Indiana is a big state. What's the nearest city?
