My truck is paid so if I mess it up it on me, but anyhow If I stick a high power radio in there (400) wats out it'll do 600 on a bird meter, but I don't use it over 400. I have a Thermo King Diesel APU in great shape. Will that radio have any affect on the APU. Just wondering, and as a disclaimer please if you don't really know just don't answer. If you actually do know and are not guessing please answer. Thanks in advance.

Why would it mess with the Thermo King APU? You will only be pulling more power from battery so it may turn on more but should have no issue with APU. Unless you are trying to hook it up different?????

If the antenna system and install are 100%,then no it shouldn’t. RF is similar to horsepower in that you’ll find the weak link.

Will you be running just the APU while parked and listening to your stereo at a higher than normal volume? If that's so, my only concern would be the little alternator in your apu trying to keep your batteries charged. Otherwise it will have no affect on your apu.

Well first what is the difference between 400 regular watts and 600 Bird Watts (sorry that's too funny)?

Second if you have a crap setup (not the radio but the coax and antenna) you MAY have issues with not just the APU controller but also the truck computer(s).

The important thing is to build the right BALANCED antenna system, this means the grounds (RF) need to be there, and matching the antenna system (this is the BALANCED part).

Once you have the energy from the radio going to the antenna radiator and not feeding back through the coax, then you won't mess with the APU.

Pretty sure he's talking about a CB radio, not a stereo system

I would use a Flux Capacitor so you don't exceed 88 Jigawatts.

No hooking it up to battery. Just asking incase there is some unforseen issue that could apply, or few people had issues or whatever. Just covering bases before I do it.

I only work local so my APU Is basically used to charge batteries. And I'll turn it on 30 mins or so once every 2 weeks or so to let it just run, and keep everything greased up.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I pretty much figured it wouldn't affect it just wanted confirmation before install.
