Post pics of.your set up..close up of how antenna is placed on atud and stud to mount..
All i did was use braided straps from door side of himge to cab side of hinge...Do one on top and bottom..
Although the wilson and k40,stryker are all nice antenna, they are mid load coiled antenna..Go with a top loaded ant just like the firestick(atleast 6 ft)or skip shooter...
Hrounding the cb is already done through the power/ground wire....
Now its a different type of ground you need for the antenna....Electrical is what you dont need but ground plain is what you do need and thats NOT achived with a wire to chassie bs..
Search for counterpoise and bonding seperately..Try to get a good understanding of those and then your on your way...
If a cb shop tunes strictly via a power meter and swr,run cause they dont know how to tune an antenna..
Chk out a site called k0bg.com as a baseling of understanding....
That same radio you have is in my oick up and can reach out and listen very well..Its all about the antenna..![]()

Don't look at me. My old stock Uniden would do 7 miles ish on a metal frame/ground provided for it.
The new trucks with composites are beyond me.
Im deaf so anything within 4 miles at most in a convoy out west on cabbage was plenty for me.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Wolverine............^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^....Got a question for you. I am running a Galaxy 949, and just got a Wilson 5000 mag. mount. Tried to SWR balance the antenna with channels 40 & 1....Hit 1.5 on 40 but zero on 1.....Finally messing around ended with just a slight movement from zero on both. Is zero the best setting ? Thanks RavenmoonAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

A CB radio can have a 50 mile range. The CB radio base station range can be as high as 50 miles, which makes it one of the most powerful. More than the antenna, however, you must also factor in the operations in determining its distance.

More distance is easily possible.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

No with that truck you need a top loaded antenna, depending on the length a fire stick should do you well, don't get suckered in on all the expensive antenna crap. Also when it comes to distance, the radios that you hear hundreds of mile away are coming in on skip, you most likely will never reach them.If you want to really see if the radio gets out good you have to wait until night fall when the airwaves quiet down, during the day it doesn't matter what radio you have your not going to get that far .....JUST THE WAY IT ISAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

Antenna ground is called "bonding"
K0bg.com for that...here is a vid explanation...
Stick with the tall top load antenna
