Wood Trucking, Inc./MCT ... Anyone heard of 'em?

It's actually 1949, but close enough. To the previous poster wanting to look them up on Safestat, USDOT # is 783 and the MC # is 111812.

Wood Trucking is one of the larger of the fleet owners leased to MCT and would definitely be considered a starter company. There are other fleet owners here that pay better and are just a better environment to work at. With that said, I don't see Wendell being the kind of guy to falsify anything on anybody's Dac/Hireright reports. I have also been known to have been wrong, but I seriously doubt it this time.

 

Were/are they out of Arkansas? They used to have a yard that is visible from I-55 in Memphis. I guess I had always assumed that was there main office.

 

Don't let that frighten you, that is on the bottom of every DAC Carrier report filed on you. It's like a disclaimer. If there was a number behind it with an explanation of the incident, then you have a valid course for rebuttal.

Chalk this one up to you being WRONG!!! Other than my road test on the FIRST day of orientation, I never drove AGAIN for this company, NO miles at all!!! While doing my road test, I never hit a curb, backed into a trailer, NOTHING!!! But they continued on with my orientation the following day and even had me coming in the next Monday to START DRIVING for them!!! And when I decided not to drive for them, I find out by another company I was interviewing with that MCT had DACed me.

I'll be honest with you, I'm new to this DAC thing and didn't realize I could be DACed even without driving for them. Looking back now, I would have been considered an employee being I accepted the position. Live and learn. What I don't understand is why a company would take the time to report to DAC unless it was to intentionally scar my record. There is no numbers behind the report or any explanation of the incident. I have to disagree with you on not being frightened about it and here's why. The company that I mentioned to Eskimo6804 questioned me about what was on my DAC. They never told me and I never asked what they had put in it (I thought I already knew-quitting a job before I started) and this company was willing to overlook it and scheduled a physical/drug test even without interviewing me. I had to postpone it because of a family emergency and by the time the emergency was over, they had filled the position. And then came issue #2. Interviewed with a company and they were all set to hire me, just waiting for my DAC. Never heard from this company again and no it wasn't my background check or my MVR or my credit history or anything else they could have run a check on. EVERYTHING IN MY BACKGROUND IS SPOTLESS EXCEPT FOR MY EMPLOYMENT HISTORY ON MY DAC!!!

To sum this up, Wendel Wood's was pissed because I backed out and I do understand why. But the only thing this company was out was a little diesel and time that the trainer spent on me in orientation. I too was out some things, gas driving from my place to Wauseon, OH. 3 times (1 hour one way) and time wasted on a worthless company. So I figured I would consider it a draw. I guess Wendel didn't see it that way, so the gloves are off now!!! And that's why I'm here, to put the word out about them. Believe what I say or not, makes no difference to me and maybe your standards are lower than mine when hiring onto a carrier. There are certain things I won't tolerate when hiring on with a carrier and will not take lying down when I leave. CAN'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU!!!

I have a problem with this since they have the Highway Patrol come in on every training session and have the Highway Patrol show the students what the DOT Inspection rating is (34). So what is the real reason why your not working for them?

 

It is in your contract that you can walk away after three-weeks and owe them nothing as long as you do not go to another CDL Company. So what is the real reason your not working for them? I think they are pretty up front, stay with them a year and you owe them nothing. I've seen there training and it is far better than a lot of truck driving schools in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. Plus, their home time, when you are a driver for them, is far better than any of the major carriers. So again Mike, I ask, what is the real reason your not working for them?

 

You have to live within 100 miles of Wauseon, Ohio to be able to qualify to work for them. So living in SW Indiana, I doubt you would qualify. The reason for the 100 miles is so when you go home for the weekend or breaks, you can leave the truck at the terminal and they can service it or what ever why you are at home

 

They also have mandatory per diem in the amount of half your gross, and you must leave your truck at the terminal on hometime

 

per diem isn't 1/2 gross, it's 1/3. it's more money in your pocket, but there is less that is taxed, which can come around to bite you when you do your income taxes.
Call Sharon at MCT recruiting. There are LOTS of fleet owners and O&Os who haul for MCT. There might be a guy closer to you. Depending on what you get, the loads are good. I'm able to average around 3500 miles/week.
