Best and brightest headlights for 579 Peterbilt 2018

My 2022 that’s the new body style has these projector headlights.



They make aftermarket projector kits for the old body style 579 that are in the $500 range for a pair.

 

Honestly thought all the new trucks had options for the LED lights. I love them to death especially on black roads. I would never go back to the old style lighting. I of course don't care for the people that have any kind of light out of alignment. They all piss me off even when they are behind me in my drivers mirror.

 

Aim them properly. I have LED's and have never been flashed. I hate being blinded and don't wanna do it to anyone else.

 

I recently bought a used 2015 579. The first trip I took I realized the lights were absolute junk. I bought these from Raney’s and they make a huge difference. The main low beam bulbs are H9 halogen which are hard to find. They are not LED they just have a daytime LED light bar which only comes on when your parked (doesn’t make sense) but I don’t care about that, only that they work as advertised when I need more light!

 

Can't you just replace the bulbs like on every other truck? A pair of LED's costs under a hundred.
I use Fahren H11/H8/H9 LED Headlight Bulbs, Upgrade 22000 Lumens 600% Brightness 6500K Cool White LED Bulb.

 

That bulb is a low-beam fitment and 22K lumens. Isn’t that too bright for a low-beam? It’s the same lumen as the high-beam fitments.

 

They're suppose to be bright. That's the whole point of using LED's. Just make sure they are aimed correctly and you shouldn't have any complaints from other drivers. I wouldn't put LED's in the high beam sockets though.

 

But in many light units, there is so much light scatter and that is what blinds people.

 

Have to realize that modern cars and pickups have bright lights on low beams. And if the vehicle is pointing every so slightly uphill it appears they have highbeams on. It took me awhile to figure it out after blasting others then REALLY getting their high beams.

Trucks I don’t know because a lot of dummies use bulbs off of Amazon that are ridiculously bright low beams. It’s very annoying.

Heck I still use these. Just replaced one tonight actually.
