Hello all, new to the forum and fairly new to trucking as well!

I have been doing dry van OTR with a mega for the last few months and have about 2 months solo, but I have realized OTR isn’t meant for me. The loneliness is starting to mess with my mental and I think I need a local or home weekly job. I have my T & X endorsements and I’m interested in anything - flatbed, delivery, class B - anything, as long as they’ll consider me given my lack of experience and age (21.)

Thank you to anyone that’ll help! :)

    Dear "suffering"...:

Depending on the "mega" that you are now with....your VERY BEST move (for the most long-term gain/benefit) is to stay exactly where you are for at least 4 more months--then transfer to a different divison and/or dedicated account at same said "mega"--then stay for (a total) of at least one year.

Longer is of course, even better.

Trucking companies like drivers who show they can "tough it out"...."go the distance"....."hang tough", etc....especially in their first year.

Quitting/changing employers that first year makes you more of a risk to successive employers.

As you've already witnessed--trucking does not favor those who don't handle being alone well.

DISCLOSURE: My first year--I did exactly as described above: after 6 months, I transferred into intermodal duty, and was home weekly.

After 3+ years--my latest gig has been hauling fuel. Home daily.

You can sign on as a driver or driver helper. Either one will get you into your own truck eventually.
