Sometimes I do just ignore the question. There's a thread on this site right now where someone commented to something I had said with a reference to my husband. I wasn't in the mood to deal with all the brouhaha that might have erupted had I responded honestly to him so I just ignored his comment. I felt pretty bad about that to be honest and hoped I didn't hurt his feelings.

As for politely telling someone it's none of their business, I'm an extremely honest and upfront person and I'm simply not going to hide who I am or what I think. If someone asks me a question they are going to get an honest answer. Period.

I realize that some people may not like me because I'm a big old lesbian, but to be honest I simply don't care. I like myself and that's really what's important. Chances are if they are that closed-minded we would have had very little in common anyway so I generally don't feel it's a big loss to just move on.

As for supporting gay-friendly businesses, I absolutely do it every chance I get. Many in the gay and lesbian community do -- there are gay bars all over this country who categorically refuse to serve Coors beer because of the Coors family's politics and donations to certain conservative groups. It's all part of voting with your wallet. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

You might say that I personally go even farther. I make sure that I'm out with a new company for a very simple reason -- I'm a great employee. Any company would be lucky to have me as one of their drivers. I feel if a company would prefer not to hire me because I'm a lesbian then I don't want them to benefit from all my hard work... no hard feelings... I'll just move on and find a company that deserves my loyalty.

    Oh my goodness.

I must be honest, I never expected this form to turn into this. The last few pages of posts have had me laughing so hard. Nana... A cross dressing pony. OMG! LOL...

I appreciate all the support and all the other opinions. I'm not hear to debate sexuality but simply to get answers to some questions. Some of you have provided excellent answers. We have begun to research companies including but not limited to Swift and US Express. Any other suggestions are welcomed...

We understand the idea behind one starting after the other. I would like further insight into this. Neither of us are concerned about the training hours or being in different cabs with different drivers to begin. Regarding the financial situation we have no debt and a solid savings. What other reasons would we want to have one start before the other?

I'm also interested in the training for someone unemployed. My partner has been unemployed for about 2-3 months so that may be something he could look into.

Nana you hit the nail on the head in #68 I appreciate the understanding and explanation. If there were more people like you the world be a better place.

Lets try and focus this back on Trucking... Other insights for a wannabe team with Zero Experience?

BTW we are open to relocating and strongly considering East Tennessee as we have family there. Any other suggestions?

Thank you for enjoying my silly little mental picture. *puts you on my "gets the stupid jokes" list* I like that in a person. LOL

Tennesse. Swift has a school there. It had some problems but my understanding is that they've cleared it up. I seem to remember there's a fairly current thread over in the swift forums and someone just finished school or orientation.

Swift gets a lot of stuff said about them and evidently some of it is deserved. They've done right by us and I enjoy working for them. However, we're on a dedicated fleet for Wal-Mart reefer so it's a different situation than a lot of swift drivers.

Kicken Chicken had a great list of schools (I think it was her) And I seem to recall she also posted about the tuition help. Of course I remember things interestingly at times so don't sue me if I'm wrong.

This forum.....is......well.....okay the truth is the only sane person on it is Mastertech and he plays with guns. We get worked up at times but we never leave. It's either a true love of the forum, an addiction or some twisted abusive/enabler relationship and we'll all be on Jerry Springer in the fall.

What was the name of the company, I think out of OK or MO, with the rainbow as their logo...it was rumored that they were all gay...the owner all the way down to the janitor service that took care of the offices. No dispersions intended in this statement/question, just a legitimate question. I repeat emphatically...IT WAS RUMORED...I don't know first hand never talked to any of their drivers or applied to the company..so just a question.

You will need to explain this to me...since I don't realize that I do this...because I refer to my "wife", or little mama? I don't use the term "significant other" which does not imply gay, as it could also mean a couple (man/woman) who are living together but not legally married. also referred to as "common law".

Or is it that I don't walk with my wrist limp and snap/wave when I agree with something as a gesture, or that I don't swish my hiney when I walk. For me, this sounds like more "psycho babble" from the other side!

And where do you get this news about Danny Kaye? first I ever heard of it...why because he was a "song and dance" man, he worked on Broadway?

So this would mean that Jimmy Cagney, Gene Kelly, Howard Keel, Bing Crosby, are all gay since they too were "song and dance" men, who also worked Broadway.

You are going to need to "link" that source sir!

Perhaps Sylvia Fine would have liked to know about her husband Danny Kaye and his "other non-public life"!:biggrin_25524:
