I thought of you folks this week, I had a Magnum style week over the past seven days…
Start in MN (Duluth) head to Texas, drive to almost Mexico (Laredo) and return to the Twin Cities. I’ve seen both sides of I-35 and will likely reset in the Blaine area over the weekend.
Just like my Magnum days![]()

Live unload at Walmart DC in Mankato got turned into a drop for whenever I get there today.
Live loading at Smithfield foods in St. James going out to Tar Heel, NC to another Smithfield Foods i believe for Tuesday. Anyone been to either of these places before?Last edited: Jan 20, 2023

Does anyone know if Magnum will help me out it any way to get home after turning in my truck at Fargo? Or will it be my responsibility?

When I left I had to find my own way...Tony did give me a ride to the airport to pick up a rental car after I turned in my truck. I had a day or so to kill before my flight departedcdavis188 Thanks this.

Don't know about Smithfield in St James. Receiving at Smithfield in Tar Heel NC took 2-4 hours both times I went and if I remember right, they had a decent bathroom inside for drivers to use. Easy backing.
The only time I went for shipping in Smithfield in Tar Heel, NC it was a disaster. It's been a long time since I went to that facility though, was in 2021 or early 2022.cdavis188 Thanks this. -
If i remember correctly there was a drop trailer in Tar Heel. St James takes about an hour. It’s been long time since I have done that loadcdavis188 Thanks this.

It's my understanding that it's on Magnum to find your way there and on you to find your way back. It's like that at most trucking companies I think. That said, just talk to your driver manager about it and about how long you'll need to clean out the truck/pack your things. The most common and preferable thing for OTR drivers to do is to put in for hometime, go home, and then put in their 2 weeks notice so that when you go back out you can fit everything into just one suitcase when you take the plane ride/rental car home.Last edited: Jan 20, 2023

That's what I thought but I wasn't for sure. I have friends and family that would be more than willing to meet me in Omaha or Kansas City to pick me up so I don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on a rental car.dwells40 Thanks this.

13 hours and counting here in St. James. At this rate I'll probably have my 34 here instead of the place I wanted to take it at. Only consolation is that they allow us to bobtail out of the facility to do whatever.

St. James didn't have my load ready until almost noon today. Picked it up and rolled into the Rochelle Petro right at 8 pm. I have enough time to squeeze in a 34 here and leave out Monday morning. Gonna head over to Wally World tomorrow to pick up a 2nd duffel bag and some cleaning supplies, as well as some fruit. I want to leave my truck in a somewhat respectable state.
