Wondering if any owner operator had a similar problem so can help.
I have DD15 with 750k miles. First experienced problems while taking off in small gear, delayed acceleration only. Now its doing way too often, seems like its suffocating and more you press the gas more black smoke it throws and barely any power.
Mechanic checked everything seemed fine, I'm suspecting EGR valve. DEF is deleted long time ago.
While driving to the mechanic bobtail did not notice anything wrong, I dont know if its random or when I am heavier.

If you mean the engine air filter it was replaced 1 month ago 50k miles after the last one.

When my truck did that the clamp on the cac had broken, causing it lose boost and starve for air. Should be able to hear it if you are losing boost though unless the turbo is failing. Had a turbo gasket fail too, loaded it would roll black smoke and lacked power….

Had a friend with a big RV pusher. I rode up the interstate with him to help diagnose lack of power. Found that the 2 bottom bolts had came loose on the turbo where it mounts to the manifold.

Look for the little things first….

Did the mechanic just look at the thing and said it's alright or did he hook up the computer and see what actually went on?

The Railsplitter and wis bang Thank this.

I noticed a few times now the nuts have come loose, being stretched maybe. Double nutted them and hasn't came loose since

You've got lack of air at some point or the turbo is going. How long has it been going on. Take the boot off the turbo and see how much play your compressor wheel has. Should have just the slightest bit of play and no more. If you can force it to the side and the fins scrape it's had it's usable life

If it's your run of the mill cascadia it probably doesn't have a pyro, but if it does what's it running
