Well I am having an air leak issue with my 09 Pete 387. I am being told after multiple trips to the dealer that its in the transmission, its a know problem, and even if they replace the part thats bad, it will do it again soon so I pretty much have to deal with it.

The leak ONLY happens when I turn the truck off and leave the spliter on the low side. (its a 10spd). If i leave it on the high side, it doesnt leak.

try changing the govenor on the compressor-not sure what motor you have-most compressors have a govenor that is adjustable.Years ago we all carried spares as they were only about 10 bucks.

Thanks for the input, sounds like the volvo's they have at the place I 'm trying to get approved should be the best chance at getting in light. Ved 465 with a 10 speed, hopefully they have 22.5 tires too, so a little less rim weight and I don't need new chains, have to find that out mon when see if I'm even approved. Daddy and momma, any chance basic gear included chains and a few tools? that's probably the heaviest stuff i carry. I can unload some of the books and lighten my wardrobe as long as my computer and game systems fit for that downtime =) I'll be keeping this old international somewhere too, so if the volvo engine does turn out to be a mistake I'll still have a cummins to fall back on in meantime.

my dad had the same issue with his 94 T600.. in the morning it would never build up air pressure, it could idle for an hour and never make sixty to release spring brakes... we found out if we let it get up to 25psi and start tapping the service brake to cause the air pressure to drop it would end up building pressure all the way up to 120psi with no problem.. we did that for half of the citrus season before it went into the shop, turned out it was a combination of things, the air dryer somehow got mudd in it or maybe dust that mixed with moisture and turned to mudd, and the sensor for the governer/governer it self was bout to go.. it would think it was at 120 and not engage the compressor when it was really only at 60, but by causing the air to dump out by hitting the serive brakes it would correct it's self..we knew something was wrong with the air dryer cause when ever it would shoot out the air, it would be a loud blast, and then trail on for a couple of seconds before stopping instead of the normal instant blast.

Nice attitude you got. I just wonder how much help that will get you? Somebody might tell you how to fix your problem for $26 and some odd change...:biggrin_25510:

i honestly dont think she really grasped the context of the OP's first post.. he didn't say he didn't want people who drove fl's, kw's, pet's, and int's NOT to reply. he just said he didn't want them to try and SELL him into buy one of those makes instead of the Volvo.. but he DID ask that if anyone had experience the grace of owning a volvo that they SHOULD chime in.. that's what i got from it.. come some people are just dyslexic..

YES daddy&momma and Mitchtazz... the point of this thread was to get opinions from past or present drivers or owners of VOLVOS, specificaly ones in the 780 with the d12 or d13 enging... This thread, as most threads on these forums, have far strayed off of the original topic...

I drove a 680 for about 1 1/2 years. They are great until you get about 300k on them , thats when everything starts going wrong. My company bought about 25 of them. They had to get rid of them because of the high maintenance problems

I have no problem with what the original poster asked for. But both he and Mama need to be a bit more tolerant. You are expecting people to give you information that we have learned the hard way, yet don't have the time to read a few posts that are off topic or are opinions about other parts of your post? Nice entitlement attitude to have, "Give us what we want for free, and don't waste our time with anything else.".

Anyway, I will answer the original poster's question. RUN, don't walk, away from lease purchasing any Volvo. At this point, everyone has already mentioned all of the negatives, so there is no point in me repeating them. I will simply say that the driver in me loves the comfort, but the owner in me hates the costs of ownership.

    This "Blowhard" is out.
