How does a feller operate with only 7k in the bank. That's not even enough money to pay for fuel for the month...

He is a leased o/o, gets paid every week. The problem is he is not generating enough weekly revenue lately to offset expenses, so that drains savings

Then he may as well throw in the towel.

I dont know how a team can manage to only gross $6,000. You need to generate that just to pay driver wages, payroll tax, and workers comp.

I appreciate the insight though Dune T into your operation and some of the folks you know. Your right about just parking and focus on dispatching. May even make more money that way.

I am an O/O leased to a small carrier. All drivers self-dispatch using the board or whatever direct freight we can find. It’s totally up to us what we haul and how much we work. Carrier provides the trailer (Dry Van), cargo insurance and plates. I cover the rest. I just ran my numbers for January and I had the best month since September. On 10,600 miles my revenue to the truck was just over 22K $2.09/m after 18% to carrier (I retain 82% of linehaul). My average rate/M in Jan was $2.98/M and $2.55 all miles.
I have seen the freight drop off in the last 2 weeks but I keep fighting and calling my good brokers and they have found good loads for me. I rarely look at the DAT board anymore. My point is to know your numbers or you will get lost in the doom and gloom. There are still good loads out there if you know the game.

$2.98 was an awesome rate when fuel was less than $2.
I hate it for you guys.
    Good luck.

My bank balance goes up every month, not down. That’s what matters.

What did you expect after the mid-Term elections? Anyone that didn't notice the slight dip prior and the rise after, wasn't paying attention or realizing what was going on. :)

He’s still right at 2 bucks after fuel. Depending on his operating cost he’s not doing too bad.
