Since you want to keep this on the original topic, here you go. I have doubts about the trailer door story. Did you see this event in person? Yes, trailer doors can lock if slammed shut. In my orientation, they did a demonstration to show this and teach the importance of locking the handles back in place when opening the doors. It would be near impossible for someone to get ‘slapped inside’ the trailer from being hit by a swinging door. Knock down, yes, maybe crushed between the door and trailer floor. You’d have to already be inside the trailer, but when you say he turned his back on it, doesn’t sound like he was in the trailer. I can’t think of a time when any of the instructors climbed up into a trailer. It sounds more like this is a tall tale that evolved from the trailer door demonstration, perhaps from multiple iterations of being passed around like a game of telephone. No attack here, just healthy debate.ToughChickTrucking, HillbillyTruckerJD, Lonesome and 5 others Thank this. -

I have to say from the start that I've never served in the military. But I hold the upmost respect for those who have.
Now that that's out of the way...I showed my career E-8 cousin this thread just to get his opinion. He's been deployed three times for a total of almost 5 years into war zones, but he never talks about it unless specifically asked. He didn't even like talking about his service when I asked him for the purpose of this thread.
According to him the biggest red flags were that at every instance you find a way to insert your military service into the conversation.
His exact words were "stolen valor."
I realize that's a terrible thing to accuse someone of, but I've known my cousin for over 40 years and I have no reason to doubt his opinion.PaulMinternational, mjd4277, HillbillyTruckerJD and 2 others Thank this. -
