if your over 244" wheelbase it's not worth going. We hauled an MRI out there that was on a spread and after buying the overwieight permits they wouldn't let me run my 295" peterbilt they tried to make me take a tiny single bunk frieghtliner and run it team. I backed out and let someone else go I wasn't getting crammed into that truck for two weeks with another person.
sorry, I don't remember the cost of the permits though. I know it was expensive enought that the second time we took one we drove it to washington and put it on a boat and bobtailed up there to pick it up and deliver it

I thought the 244wb max only applied if you had a 53footer i've heard 48ft or less you can run any wheelbase i see alot of canadians running longer trucks pulling flats and walking floors but the ones pulling vans are 244wb or less at least around here.

You will need permit and fuel permit for the Yukon I believe.As for weight I`m not for your spread,if I know spread will check at scales. Front(steer)5500kgs(12300lbs)Drivers17000kgs(38300lbs)trailer not sure as spread in province will most likely be different.Will post as soon as can!

MM, thanks for tip on overweight permit being expensive. I have considered borrowing another O/O freinds closed tandem, but right now I'm just trying toget a feel for the cost of trip permits alone. Dino, I'm shooting for Anchorage tho I will run up to Fairbanks and anywhere in between. I do not want to run the haul road to Prudoe bay btw. Montana thanks for lookin into this. I also didnt know ya can run 38 on the drives. That deffinately would help obviosly.I was aware of the fuel bond thang in the Yukon thanks to Native Dancer.

Forgot to post - I'm looking to pull this off in late aug or first week in sept. As for finding a load I have a few options...I have a good friend who's an account manager for Lynden (Lynden absolutes owns Alaska) so I have a good conection there. Right now my weekness is finding the permit costs and the spread axle isnt helping tho still doable.

Why no spread in those provinces? i thought Canada was where the spread came from or is it just eastern Canada where they run em?

It's not that spreads are illegal, it the lack of weight they let you run on them. Here in the states it is 40,000 pounds, in Canada it is only 20,000 pounds or close ish

canadian spread is 6 feet, we run ten foot spreads and the canuks don't recognize them as legal spreads

It has always been a dream of mine to Truck Alaska. Never done it, I have been real close many times, NWT and BC. Anyway, you might want to call OOIDA. I do not know if you are a member or not, but they should be able to give you the proper info. If you are a member, they should be able to get your permits for you.
BTW, do you run under your own authority? I see you post here all the time, you sound like you know what your talking about, and have a level head on your shoulders.
Like it was mentioned above, I would love to hear about Alaska.
