Similar concerns here!
Too many will travel way too slow for the roadway and conditions for miles and miles on end. When in fact the proper thing to do since they are unable to travel the appropriate speed and let traffic move is to Get Off the interstate!
Simply put if traffic is backing up behind you and traffic ahead is pulling away or has disappeared completely Your 15 to 20 mph with flashers on for 59 miles or so should not be the norm!
As my father used to say, "if you can't travel with the flow and are constantly hindering it, get the F off the highway and use the secondary roads.
More lies from the Safety Dept. on using your 4 ways.

Using flashers at 20 below the speed limit isn't the norm. It's what happens when you blow a tire at 79000lbs and traffic is bumper to bumper in all lanes and you're trying to get to a tire shop asap to get it repaired.
I've blown numerous tires in my life and NEVER had any LEO have an issue with me taking it to a tire shop. The ONLY time I had to deal with a LEO is when I blew BOTH tires in a set of tandems and had to pull over. I was 1/4 mile from a Loves and sat 6 hours waiting for roadside. I had a state trooper come and pay me a visit less than 5 minutes after getting stopped.
Speaking of LEO, ask ANY state trooper who has had to deal with pulling a 4 wheeler with decapitated occupants out from under a stopped 18 wheeler on the side of the road and he'll tell you I'd much rather you limp to a tire shop than stop on the side of the interstate.Last edited: Feb 2, 2023

Then your powers of observation and my wording are in conflict.
Driving for a few miles to a safer place or to the nearest exit for that blown tire is reasonable but to tie up traffic for miles on end is not!
Bad weather was my main focus with that statement and I don’t care if your unable to navigate the side roads with your truck, car, motorcycle or mini bike. Just get it off the hiway and if that means you have to park it then by all means do so!Hammer166 Thanks this. -
Something about your slow moving truck causing more issues the longer it keeps tieing up the roadway and causing traffic back ups and hazardous situations, the longer that line of traffic gets the more it very quickly becomes more dangerous than the much more minimized risk of the roadside repair with proper lights on a service truck or an officer called to babysit with sirens flashing a fair distance back! -
Has anyone considered the Safety and Well being of the roadside tech???
How’d you like to work on outside trailer tire with Your ### hanging out in traffic???kylefitzy, ducnut, drivingmissdaisy and 5 others Thank this. -

Magnetic LED flashlight, one on each side at the rear of the trailer. Cheesy yes, but it works. And you then have them on every trailer, because you take them with you.
ducnut, scott180, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hence why going a few miles to an exit ramp or an area with more room to pull over away from traffic. My friend Bobby did roadside tire repair for many years. He has told me many times that he will call the police for assistance if need be. That assistance would be for them to slow traffic while the repair is completed if need be like with a steer tire or to escort the truck while it moves slower than normal to an area with more room where the repair can be made more safely. Don’t recall him ever telling me about a cop having the truck just go all the way to the repair shop.
No matter your feelings on this with the current status of law suits and outcomes I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end if an accident happend because I was tieing up traffic needlessly against the written rules. At least with an officer present, his decision to move the truck takes that responsibility off my shoulders.
