I’d like a 15 ton rollback for smaller equipment. But I can only drive one truck and I don’t wanna hire a driver.

I just picked a few of my favorites to highlight. I like a lot of the real info that people shared, not just these.

I don’t know how long I’ll be in trucking. I got my CDL to work for the union electrical companies. But, I do feel lucky to be in trucking at this time because of some of the newer technology. I drive a recent Peterbilt and while a lot of the truck is now low quality crap, it is relatively spacious, the engine seems to be excellent, and the front disc brakes with engine brakes make for relatively safe, no-brainer negotiation of the steep grades. That is huge IMO!!!

I hate my Bendix system though. I can see how it could be good; but, it needs to be improved or it needs to be able to be turned off. Mine will slam on the engine brakes in snow so hard it could cause someone to rear-end me or jerk my truck off the road if I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t have a tight grip on the wheel. If I stay in this business, I‘ll be moving to a company without it when I have a little more experience. Luckily, winter will be over soon!

Yeah right..................at that tour stop in Fargo all the livestock hauler groupie gals were asking for you by name! Course, most of them were somehow involved with law enforcement, so there's that.....

To answer the original question: having a knowledgeable trainer from a long lineage of truck drivers. Learning how to live comfortably on the road. Viewing OTR as an adventure and not a chore. Adopting Zen Buddhist principles & proverbs to increase my own patience when dealing with wankers. Documenting the whole OTR experience so I can remember the good times. Putting all the negative crap behind me and focusing upon the positive...

P.S. More pics to be posted later in my 'Trucking Daze' thread, lol...

Well, they wouldn't let me frisk them, but I feel fairly confident in saying that they were armed and dangerous!
