I havent made any opinions or preconceived notions on anything. All i've done is ask for information, then ask people to either stay on the original topic, or start a new thread. I think you sir/ma'am, are the one who needs to "knock it off."

We have a 780. It has had issues, and the repairs are costly. Sure it's roomy and comfortable, but in the long run that isn't worth the excessive gouging on repairs. Not to mention the annoyance of the small problems that are inevitable.

A warranty is all fine and dandy... until you end up in a predicament like a close friend of ours did. He was told a repair was under warranty, the shop fixed it, and then decided that the warranty didn't apply/cover it. Over $4000 that he was told would be covered before the repair. That wasn't even one of the major breakdowns. He doesn't own that truck now because he wised up.

Believe what you want to about them, sit on a high horse about them, but they do have problems and this thread was asking for opinions from OWNERS/DRIVERS of those makes of truck. A driver will tell you about a few problems and the comfort. An owner will tell you how sore your hand will be from reaching in your pocket.

I have seen several guys reply in here that were blown off/had an attitude taken toward because they don't drive this particular truck. You can have knowledge of something without owning it and it be true knowledge. You can have knowledge about the truck without driving it and it be true knowledge... especially if you talk over how to fix the thing with the owner on a daily basis. I saw a couple of them toward the beginning of the thread that a friendship with would truly benefit you in this business. They don't own the truck, but they know about them. I guarantee you the mechanical ability they possess, and the knowledge they have about these trucks, will benefit you more than the praises of a volvo cheerleader.

We had the air issue. We spent money/downtime with the truck in the shop over it. After a lot of time and money was wasted, they finally figured out the problem. The small thing that fixed it cost less than a modest dinner for two at a restaurant. Good luck figuring out what it was on your own... and I hope you enjoy your truck.

Thanks everybody who gave me advice, I've little choice now, as I somehow managed to get approval on the volvo the day after I wrecked the international on a snowplow through sheer stupidity. Sales says 17.5 k empty with 10 speed and the volvo engine, so I should be able to make it work

Now for our 780 saga. Been waiting to head back to the shop but we're here at Bruckners in Amarillo now.

I forget which driver cursed my warranty. lol Looks like you're probably right. We bought the National Truck warranty and it appears it is only gonna cover engine type stuff. Ah sigh, my pockets are turning inside out as I write this,

We purged our air tanks this morning in Tucumcari and they wouldn't reinflate. So we called Bruckners to make sure we wouldn't do more damage by driving the 110 miles to Amarillo. They suggested we drive slow and if the truck groaned, slow down further. We made it. Now if we can get out of here with the shirt still on our back.

We are so thankful we saved extra money to cover any emergencies, cause we're finding them. lol

Never haven driven a Volvo I just don't care for them.
I think it's because they are mostly company trucks and impede my forward progress.
I don't think I have ever seen a Volvo heavy haul truck but I'm sure there out there.(or in the shop)
Sorry your Volvo warranty sucks, my Pete and cat warranty was pretty good while it was sill in force but I only had to use the Pete warranty once (bad power mirror)
I hope you get all your troubles sorted out before that Volvo makes you homeless
