Seriously unique. I was trying to use a solid roller in my mind and jamming up the product.
Honest question... You figure that idler out, or had you seen some similarity ops before ? Dirt simple, when you see it, but I had not even considered that way.
    Again, unique solution.

We were woefully unprepared in the long pants / sweat shirts department for freeze to death and DIE conditions, and ours are trashed.

I was told to spend $50 of our DETENTION ( Always moist and delicious ) money, and do a load of laundry.

I'd seen similar designs previously... But I simplified them into that roller. And that thing is very precise...both discs were precision machined to the exact same dimensions, then welded within .0005" of true with the shaft AND each other. That was a challenge in itself! The first iteration of it looked like a bent bicyle wheel when it spun... Lets just say it did nothing to keep the belt tracking straight and even. So I rebuilt it to very precise specifications.

@JolliRoger this is my favorite part of the whole machine. 100% my own design. Its the mechanism used to tension the drive belts on the motor.

Those long threaded shafts move the entire platform the the motor is mounted on up and down the main frame to tension the drive belts, the 2 bolts on each side ride in slots in the platform to keep it straight and in alignment with the frame.

That is a stainless steel shaft with ACME threads, with mild steel ACME thread nuts on either side of a length of heavy wall mild steel pipe. By using a mild steel nut on a stainless thread it won't rust the nuts to the thread and the nuts and thread wont gall to each other. Same principle applys to the stainless thread through the mild steel pipe. Also the threads themselves are beefy enough that even with a bunch of crap jammed into them they are nearly impossible to strip out at the speed of a wrench.

This machine hadn't had those nuts moved for at least 2 or three years... And even though I had to torch off all the regular bolts, thise freed up with only a wrench (no heat needed) and with a little lubricant I had all 4 of them spinning by hand in less than 5 mins.

Not for any high-minded reasons but simply because, I was consistently short of funds and needed my gas 15 cents cheaper.

Like a class society... The superior never thinks about it, and the inferior never forgets.
The one with the fur never get cold and the ?? without freezes his ###... Just saying..

Concept is nor unique to my thinking, but the app of acme thread's is, I suppose that in my experience, long acme threaded rods were not topically on display at the bolt house.
