The big players will just order or lease more trucks and hire more drivers if the market improves. Its easy for them because the truck is the collateral for the additional liability. "Yea just send 100 more blue ones this week Joe" LOL E Z

The data analysis needed to actually assign Safety Fitness Determinations will be slow in coming too. FMCSA has admitted that. It (FMCSA) will, apparently, proceed with 1) warning letters, 2) targeted roadside inspections, 3) on-site and off-site investigations, 4) cooperative safety plans, plus notices of violation, notices of claim, and settlement agreements.
From the "outside looking in" it appears that more than just a few carriers (mostly smaller carriers) won't be around long enough to actually get a Safety Fitness Determination. What has been said before just might be true, i.e., if creditors (thru repo) or lack of available credit sources don't get them, CSA 2010 will.
There really seems to be a push....an underlying, subversive push to get the little guy out of business. From much of what I've read, FMCSA, DOT, and other agencies and groups see the "little guys" as the "bad guys".Blue Screen and Baack Thank this. -
We've had a 15 cent jump here in just the last couple days. -
The Trucking Industry is burning to the ground.
-
There will always be need of trucks, so the industry isn't going anywhere.
It's about time most of the weaker companies were culled from the herd tho. -
Actually, I'm curious if some of the large "bottom feeder" companies to go under before the little Mom & Pops that have their act together.
My thinking:
The big companies, with the high turnover, tons of students, poor maintinence, and cost cutting approach to repairs, will begin to take big hits to the CSA score. (they're already nervous about it from what I've seen in company meetings) And they can only fire/blame so much of it on the driver.
Plus this administration loves to go after "evil big buisness" (while it lines it's pockets with big buisness #2) So perhaps we'll see at least one "big" company being made an example of.
This could be interesting after all,,, we might see a major carrier loose it's authority. -
Major carriers on average have better scores than Many smaller companies.............

i dont think the trucking industry is going anywhere, but a major and painful change is occurring...the more drivers that come together to help direct this change in a positive direction the better off we will all be...voices need to be heard!
