There is a rumor going around that Walmart is going to take over 100 percent of their freight.

Do you want the end product the way you want? Or do you want every little detail done to your instructions? Former fine, that's fair. The latter, do it yourself or stop crying. Take trucking, do you just want the product picked up and delivered on time without equipment/property being damaged? Or do you want the driver driving how when and where you tell them? Walmart seems to be trending towards the latter. Supposedly they used to be respectable, now they just seem like any other mega. And if they hope to move all freight in-house their hiring standards will probably drop even more.

I use to drive for WT out of the first grocery dc that was completely taken over by Walmart Transportation. And they've been saying for years that they want WT only to do HVDC's or grocery distribution center's. However with all the outside carriers screwing up. WT CANT KEEP DRIVERS. So the outside carriers still have the freight.

Most ppl are like myself once they find out they will be slip seating a sleeper truck. They are pretty much looking elsewhere. But with all the changes to WT. And the lowered hiring criteria I'm surprised that WT hasn't completed there promises. And that was 5yrs ago when they claimed they would eventually have WT drivers doing every HVDC. If the outside carriers would tighten up and pay there drivers. Maybe then they would take the job serious. And deliver on time and stop tearing up WT trailers.

They told us in orientation that WT was taking the name off the sides of the reefer's so the company wouldn't get sued. Because USX, CRE, & etc would do the dumbest things while pulling the trailer. And all ppl would remember was walmart name on the trailer. Not the company name on nhe truck.

These outside carriers are also the reason why alot of walmart stores dont allow truck parking. These guys kept leaving bottles of yellow stuff. And bags of brown stuff in the lots. Then when employees would clean the lot. They got disgusted once they came along and saw things like this. Once it continuously made it to corporate. They said no truck parking. Some stores even said Walmart trucks aren't even allowed to park.

Right, there is safe, risky, then everyday living. An employe who does not have the sense to balance these and get something done, I do not need.
"Safety "can become an all encompassing cover...

I wouldn't say its that great, its just ok. Drive a truck like anyone else would

thats news to me, but I try my best not to drive like a ####### or hit things so hasn't been a problem to me
I hear this a lot, guess I'm the lucky one. I keep to myself don't try to get into social clicks at work or be buddy buddy with office staff. It also helps if you don't crash into stuff, drive 65 through construction or school zones. Been "Micro Managed" once in 9 years by#4 of 7 safety guys i had he's been replaced and gone, im still here though

Yes the G L Smith disaster did a number on driver view & image. Not sticking up for company, but I see a lack of new talent elsewhere too. Guess its the new mindset and attitude

So they don't micromanage all of their drivers?

    (rhetorical question)

I've noticed with the newer reefers, the walmart name is back on the trailer.
