Let's be honest, you were looking for a Rest Area and turned into a POV parking lot even though you should've been able to clearly see it wasn't designed for a CMV and proceeded anyway because a machine on your dash told you to turn and YOU decided to let it lead you into a mess.....tell me again how Schneider treated you bad after having to likely pay $1500 for someone to come out and babysit while you got out of there? The problem in this situation is staring back at you in the mirror as you, and you alone, made this decision.
Ruled a preventable accident, but it really wasn't.

Just wondering ... did they remove common sense from new drivers as part of the CDL process with these new regulations?
My driver calls me at 11 to tell me that a Swifty swift truck is blocking the dock access road at a shipper, he said the driver tried to make a wide turn behind a shipper on a narrow road with deep ditches on both sides, but could not make the turn then got the truck stuck across the road when the trailer slipped into one of the ditches while they were trying to back up to make the readjust themselves to make the turn. -

This is your 2nd job within 3 months. Better make the best of it and hope Schneider doesn't fire you.
2nd job in 3 MONTHS??
WHAT??
WHY?? -
I agree with Concorde. I do the same thing, compare to Google satellite maps and get a visual.
Op, the comments here might seem abrasive but that's a good thing because it could have been a lot worse. I drove for Schneider for 7 years and their navigation sucks. Read your signs when pulling into any area. I used to deliver to Publix supermarkets and it was critical to visually see where the docks were and how to get in. Be aware of your surroundings and stop following the GPS, turn by turn. Wouldn't hurt to throw in a little common sense too. Happy trucking drivers.IH9300SBA Thanks this. -
Google satellite view is your friend if you take the time to look .. I do 15 to 25 drops a week long haul and receiving never answers phone at most . With satellite view I see where docks are and it’s easy to figure how to get to them . If still unsure I call a manager if receiving don’t answer .

FWIW, I got myself into a few stupid places when I was a rookie, but.....I figured out how to get myself out of them, too. Anything that you can drive IN to without hitting anything, you can back out of as well. Once had to back-out a full mile and a half, but I did it, and didn't have to call mommy to help me, either.
I think it's time you re-consider your choice of profession, before you kill somebody in an accident. If you have this poor 'situational awareness', then you are a danger to everybody else on the road. It's only a matter of time until your incompetence catches up to you while driving.Last edited: Feb 26, 2023

We obviously both do same type of work and dint know bout you but I’ve been at it way tooo long...lol
And while I steadfastly refuse to use gps...I have to agree google satellite of the location has been a game changer.... Now I only park and walk around 2-3 blocks couple times a week to figure things outMagoo1968 Thanks this. -
The other "A Team":
- Rand McNally Deluxe Motor Carriers' Road Atlas
- Garmin dezlCam Truck GPS
- Google Maps (with satellite views)
- "TruckerPath" cellphone app
Prudent use of each (or all) of these....means ya can't miss....
