I don't feel as if I'm stretching the truth. Is leasing a truck for everyone, NO! Is Prime for everyone, NO! That being said, I know plenty of drivers that are doing just as good as me, and plenty of drivers that aren't. I know one driver that is over $10,000 in the hole, and blames her dispatcher 100%, and knowing her, I know that isn't the case. I have also seen people in orientation trying to accuse Prime of being a shoddy company, AND THEN LEASING ANYWAY! I can only imagine that they didn't make it very long.

All that being said, in my experience, I've seen a direct correlation between attitude and success at Prime.

As far as me being the trainer whose trainee wrecked in WY after not waking me up when it started snowing like he was supposed to so I could make a call on if we kept going or not, yep, that's me. He did get a non-preventable for the accident though.

Good luck with JCT, I've heard mostly good things from drivers about them, but then again, I know drivers that left Prime for them, and 6 months later, were back at Prime. It's all what you make of it.

Attitude and success at Prime only go hand in hand if you have a dispatcher that gives a crap about your success. By the way we even bought us ours gift cards trying to warm him up. We did not turn down many loads, three in two years. We did complain and do the math, showing them the absolute to the penny profitability prior to accepting it. We were then promised the next one would make up for it, on and on and on.

We are at PRIME 2 years. We asked for hometime twice. The first time we barely made it, the second time was to turn in our truck and pick up the one we purchased. They promised us a load, it wasn't ready and we had to deadhead 1375 miles. That is the way PRIME treats their drivers. Brag all you want but the truth is still and always be the truth!

If you are with Prime longer than 3 years you are in a different boat than the rest of the slush pile. They want their trucks full and with their freight rate murdering someone has to pay for it. The newbies.

PRIME was not right for us. But on a 3,500 miles at JCT nets the same as 5,500 miles at PRIME, and that is figuring in truck payments. I guess it all depends on what you consider money, if I don't I net a minimum $2,000 then I'm not making money. Of course that is net, that means after I've paid Uncle Sam. :biggrin_25511:

First, I know Chance, and he is a good FM - he does care about his drivers, and has some very successful operators. Second, if you were at Prime for 2 years - then you'd be aware (perhaps you should have gotten out of the truck a bit more often?) that there was this little economic situation known as the worst recession since the Great Depression going on. I'd think that you might consider that part of what happened to you at Prime had something to do with that.

Obviously this sight is a cheerleading squad for Prime apparently the truth should never be offered here. SO we are kindly bowing out.

Okay I'm not going to lie I haven't read all the threads on here but I have a few questions. I just recently got my CDL and was looking at going to Swift but after their recuiter acted like I was bothering her it kinda put a bad taste in my mouth about them. Now the Prime recuiter I've been talking to has been real nice and professional which I was just wondering will this be the case even after I'm with the company? I mean does this company actually treat their drivers with respect? Also I've read somethings about e log under the Prime link on here, is that everybody now or is it still in it's testing phase? Are all their trucks still manual trans. or are they moving over to auto's trans like most big companies? I've read a lot of flak about Prime being real slow on the road what are their company trucks governed at? Since this would be my first company do you all think it would be a good place to start. I'm not much on teaming but if it's what will pay my bills then I'll do it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and answering my questions.
One other question I've read on here that Prime is giving solo company drivers smaller trucks does that include the drivers that our running 48 and Canada or just those that are running more of a regional route? I'm pretty much sold on this company and should start my orientation on March 3. I'm just trying to get some more info so I know more of what to expect. Thanks again

In my experience so far, I have never been inspected. We hardly ever even get called into a scale. Probably 98% of the time, we get the green light to bypass. If we did get inspected, we would pass. New truck, new trailer... what's not to pass?
