Picked up a loaded trailer in York, PA. LFO tire was bald over 1/4 of the tire. There was a huge patch where the steel belt was visible. Got sent an hour out of route to the Knight yard in Carlisle for repairs. The load was due tonight at 8:00pm, but thanks to going that far out of route, I wasn't going to have the hours to make it.
Had enough hours left after they finished to mosey down to the Gettysburg Travel Plaza. Gonna get up a bit earlier than usual tomorrow so I can try and be on the other side of DC before rush hour really thickens up.Last edited: Feb 28, 2023

Spent the whole day taking care of the truck and myself. After sleeping in until 0830, then showering, then driving up to Waffle House, I got my new mirror installed at the body shop. Didn’t have any available at the company junk pile, so they had to order the whole nine yards. Then I got it a much needed bath. Then the windshield boys had to take my new windshield out and readjust the gasket because it developed a horrible wind noise. Then I got my new registration and COI that were due, including the new Connecticut HUT permit. And finally, I had to hunt down an empty reefer to bring down to Jarratt for my D/H. Walked this whole yard, touched every reefer trailer and no luck. Then I went to the trailer shop and inquired about the one in the bay. Was told it was just finished, new inspection, new brakes and a couple new tires. Here’s where this gets tricky. There was an Abilene seal (dead giveaway) and cheap lock on it, no paperwork in the bill box. So I call into dispatch and I’m told that it’s empty. So, what turned out to be a driver saving the only empty reefer on the yard for his later use, is now hooked to me after we broke the seal and cut the lock off. Sorry folks, we don’t do that. And if you do, a driver like myself that knows the program, will do the right thing. Will be in Groveport about 1500 tomorrow, then hook the Oregon load about 0500 Thursday. Time for bed.

Decided to pull over to get fuel at the Loves off exit 130 I10 in Fl early this morning and got pulled over under the overpass for a level 3 which I passed and got the free truck wash which my truck badly needs with all the bugs splattering today.

That was a rare grocery warehouse that had me unloaded in 30 min. Guess them frozen portabella mushrooms didn’t need broken down. No overnight parking allowed so ended up pcing all the way to the WM yard because every rest area and truckstop between Jackson and the yard was full except the rest area across the Tn line but security banged on my door two hrs after parking and told me time was up. I parked on the end in the very first spot and the little bitty two hr limit sign was down towards the other end. They need to put more signs up there warning two hr limit so a driver can see in any spot.

Load that was due in Mechanicsville last night at 8:00pm got rescheduled to March 3rd at 3:00am. As is typical, however, nobody told me. So I found out when I got to the receiver this morning at 9:30am and they refused the load.
It's a receiver where we routinely drop loaded trailers, and I've dropped around a dozen of 'em there myself over the years. However, apparently only certain loads are allowed to be dropped, and this load wasn't one of 'em. So it is now nestled snugly in slot 204 on the yard where one of the local drivers can take it to its destination 36 hours from now.
Currently in the shop for some minor repairs. We'll see if they have a load for me when I'm done.Lonesome, Finfn1372, JohnBoy and 1 other person Thank this. -

Stopped to get fuel and take my 30 min break at the J in Temple, Ga. Parked in a reserve spot in front of the fuel island and a flatbed driver pulls up and parks in the fuel island and hops out with a shower bag and goes in for a shower and he didn’t even pull up. Amazes me when there are plenty of wide open spots to back into and a driver parks in the fuel island and wastes 30 min or more blocking a fueling lane.
