on the newer trucks (or older for that matter) when you are coming up on a weigh station and you go under that bar that has the funky looking camera thing - does it "brake check" you - this truck has never done anything like this up till then and hasn't again ... but when I went under that bar it like slammed on the brakes ... it didn't lock them up but warnings came on the dash but all the gauges looked good air wise

Your sensors were reading something in your path falsely. Have had it happen to me a couple of times

Brake system sensors are thermal and low level looking for the hot or cold wheel among all the warm [working] ones.

My 2020 Freightliner used both the radar in the bumper and the forward-facing camera. If one or both saw something that suggested an impact it would activate the brakes hard.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

On the bridge going north on I57 crossing from MO into IL, each of the overhead beams would tap my brakes in my old truck, each and every one of them, so like a dozen or more times per crossing. That could be fun in bad weather, and if something happened the manufacturer wouldn't be at fault, the driver would.

Just wait til ur driving on a nice sunny day in the middle of nowhere, with Nobody or anything around and that auto brake puts you thru the windshield.. Useless invention.

I think it’s just coincidence that it happened to trigger at the weigh station. It happens from time to time. Sometimes mine will activate the brakes when I get a collision warning and sometimes it doesn’t. I haven’t figured out why it only brakes some of the time.

And this right here is why i took mine off my truck. Had exactly that happen and it nearly caused a jack knife. Wide open road nothing for miles and my trucks radar with zero warning locked my wheels to the point i skidded and started to jack knife then as i started to correct it then released causeing me to overcorrect and did it again with me all over the bloody road trying to get control of the truck and the second time it never released the brakes. Turns out a little peice of gum wraper got stuck on the radar and it freaked the #### out. As soon as i removed it the brakes released from 100% application.
Pete told me that was "normal". #### got disabled shortly after that.Bizzarrogeorge, Rubber duck kw, W923 and 4 others Thank this.
