Not for us. It's 10K in taxes last year. It's a bit lower this year but pretty high too. I didn't anticipate losing half of the business after our trailer got damaged end of January. Not much coming in after that with still having taxes to pay, IRP payment, and insurance renewal (always higher first bill). Then college expenses for my son.
I didn't refinance my mortgage when I should have. The ARM is changing every quarter and going up so fast. I didn't anticipate this to last for so long. I hate to make changes. So, I'm losing quite a bit now.
And to think I wanted to sell my business when rates were HIGH that would pay off my mortgage and I didn't, it's sad now to even think about it.
I wouldn't have any payments except for my son's school, utilities, property taxes/insurance and car insurance.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

Went back to the grind starting on the 1st. I have not been working much since Thanksgiving otherwise. Im making nearly the same per mile as last fall, but fuel is much cheaper now so things are looking up. Here are my numbers. I have a few loads booked out into the future.

My CPA has been charging a minimum of $1500 to file our taxes! That’s been the fee for several years now. She does keep me out of trouble, but it looks like I need to shop around!
-
Wait a minute tho, what do you mean shop around? She's got a lot of expenses running a desk and you'll probably get an audit if you use one the those cut rate accountants.fordconvert, Siinman, Midwest Trucker and 1 other person Thank this.

I pay $500 for our taxes. I have all the numbers on hand for my tax accountant. I have everything what he needs. I know what questions he might have in addition to the numbers. So, everything is there. Even how much I had on the last day in our business account. It's usually two pages showing one column of numbers and designations. He takes less than 2hrs to file our business and personal taxes.dwells40, fordconvert, Siinman and 2 others Thank this.

I can’t wait until they get the transparency that they all think they deserve and they will see how their fellow carriers will just bid a $3k load down to $1500 just to keep their truck moving.
-
Not really.
I have my numbers prepared. So, I don't worry being audited. There is no guessing on mine. If someone would charge me $1,500 for two hours when I was the one doing all the paperwork and keeping books ready with all the numbers, I would never pay $1,500.dwells40, Siinman and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Is it only for taxes?
Or other paperwork too? Do you have numbers ready for her? Or does she need to calculate everything, all gross, expenses, etc. That would make sense. But if you do it all and have your numbers, then she just needs to file it and use the data you collected.fordconvert, Siinman and Rideandrepair Thank this.
