Replacing my truck batteries, how important are CCA numbers?

If you let it sit any amount of time (1month+) disconnect all positive terminals

If you want them fresh, get a cheapy solar 12v patched onto them when it sits

 

We're slightly larger than Aspen and a few hundred feet higher. And there's twice the population of town in the rest of Teller County, this has become a bedroom community for the Springs.

 

Newer trucks have a small drain on the batteries even when the key is off. So install a battery cutoff switch that way if it's going to be parked fir more than a few day's just flip the switch. 11.4 would be normal if it's been sitting for 3 or more weeks

The batteries the factory installed are the cheapest they can. Most trucks require 1,500-1,800 CCA to start that's 3 if your full charged to start your truck. Myself I only use 950 or bigger in my truck...

 

You may try and go to a dealer for the batteries. Normally they have the cheaper batteries for a lot less than anyone else. Also if you are an OODIA member you can get a percentage off at Batteries Plus and can find decent deals.

I myself would get at least 750 CA and would get deep cycle if you use any cab power.

 

Paccar has been running some specials on batteries lately.
Name brand and very reasonable price.
