Stephen’s only believable story was “The Stand” and there wasn’t no AI — it’s Believe or Evil— ain’t gonna be no other choice

Phone companies still are a good market for batteries. Gregory Salisbury, (C and D Battery Distributor/Memphis) used to have a contract with AT&T.
Had a cycle of go to microwave tower installations all around and just swap out the back up batteries. Put in new. bring back the ones in use, dispose of by selling ,as many had never been cycled.

Despite living in his home state, I've actually read very little of his work. I read a lot of Horror / Dystopian Sci-fi.... There's just authors I find are "scarier", perhaps?

His son, Joe Hill, nom de plume modified to distance himself from his dad - has written some bangers. But they're like 800 pages a shot. "The Fireman" & "NOS4A2" - and the Graphic Novels "Locke & Key".

At the time they had a few rows of lead acid batteries that were about 4 foot cubes. Then a row upon row of the 1.5 volt dry cells that are about the size of a 40oz. His primary job was to check the acid levels in the big batteries and then inspect and test run the generators one day of the week. The other 4 days was spent swapping dry cells.

It still that way with CenturyLink (phone company), I was in one building working and the power shut off, batteries took over then the locomotive sized engine that runs the generator started up and scared me half to death, it was a first time experience, and has not been forgotten.

Should add that you would most likely be better off taking out the A.C. Servers generate a bunch of heat wont run long without cooling.

Careful of what words you say over it. Some of them won't work and might have karma....

I read about 1/4 of Pet Cemetery and couldn’t do no more— he’s a weird psycho MF’er — but I think he pretty much nailed it on “The Stand”
