Hey guys hope you are safe out there....I was wondering if anyone has ever just put a direct switch to the ecu for idle up without connecting to the brake pedal, speed control switch on dash, clutch or anything else that the idle up might be connected to.

I use to have idle up when i first bought my truck but my ecu and harness got fried not to long after due to a short and at the time i didnt really know anything about heavy duty trucks so at the local company i was at they would fix the truck with any problem then take it out my check little by little every week....Anyways they got the vin number, went to the dealer to get a new engine harness but then told me that i wasnt going to have cruise or idle up...At the time i was local containers and didnt care...Now i been otr for the last 2yrs....I got the cruise fixed by some electrical guy in miami, he did some type of bypass on the 2 switches on the dash....tbh idk what he did but i have highway cruise but no idle up, I messed up cause he could of fixed the idle up by running some wiring to the ecu, but i was in a rush that day to leave otr...ive tried to contact that same guy but he has disappeared on me......since i went otr am trying to do more heavy duty/complicated stuff myself along with out of the box stuff, that i know from previous mechanic experiance on cars.

I would really like to just put a direct switch to the ecu to activate /control it. Am pretty good with electrical but have no direction with this....I have looked at the detroit wiring diagrams but they seem really different that what am use to with car ones and not sure what pins on the ecu to wire the idle up.

I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

Was just looking at this diagram on here and says the pink wire from the ecu goes to the acc on side of the switch but what else is needed to make it work? maybe needs to be grounded?

Your Cruise should work as the Idle up maybe it just needs abit of programming to do so

lol clearly....it was a place in houston...very shady tbh....century class + 97 detroit engine is prone to theft down there.

Didn't the Century's have an extra switch prone to failure behind the wastebasket? Maybe i'm misremembering.

Was it equipped with opt idle, and the hood switch?
