What are some APU alternative setups??? its getting hot!!!

Turned out ok. I decided to re-do both lines since the system was already vented. Looking it over afterward, this compressor unit rocks forward/back a little more than I care for. I believe over a year and a half it was enough to weaken that flare and crack it. That one apparently has an internal isolator between the base and the rest of it. The one on my truck doesn't, so won't likely suffer the same fate. I took some measurements to build a simple brace for it. I got a piece of scrap 1/8" x 1" flat 304 that will work perfect. Just need to brake a 90º bend on one end and drill a couple holes. It will secure the top of the case to the back of the cab to keep it from rocking. If I have another line crack, I'll explore getting some hoses made up.

I have an hvac company that services my house over 20 yrs, but where the trucks are parked is sort of out of their territory. Getting someone out today would have likely been an issue too. I posted the job on thumbtack and found a guy willing to work it in. When it was done he only charged me $125. I told him I was expecting to pay $200 or so and he wouldn't take it. I didn't insist LOL.

It's worked out pretty well for odd handyman related stuff I've gotten done. I wasn't sure about what kind of licensed hvac people would be on there, turned out there were a couple. I knew the small job would be a hard sell, so I mentioned in the post I was expecting a rate like a home emergency call out repair and not expecting any warranty due to the nature of the system and where it's installed. Fill-er-up and go.

 

I just downloaded it and it looks like it might be the perfect set up for me. I have a handful of little odd and ends I need to finish up that I cannot get motivated enough to get done. Might have a few done while I am working on my taxes this week. Gonna call a few of them tomorrow. I love apps like those since it makes it easy when I think about something and can do it while I think about it.

I have enough projects in this place I wanted to get done to sell the home. Instead of taking all that time off this summer with luck I can hire them out without waisting a lot of time looking for someone worth hiring. I hate hiring large companies for anything and like paying for the little 1-10 man operations. Kind of feel since I am a small operation I want to support the small business man/woman as much as I can.

 

Why not ? I had an issue where my APU was down for a week. I would idle my truck to sleep comfortably and never had an issue. Worse cases was I had to regen in the morning. No big deal

 

Idle a new truck for long periods of time is a dead sentence to the emissions system.

 

Idle a emissions truck and your emissions will look like this after a really really short time. Minus the melted metal...or maybe not.



Idleing an emissions truck you own is financial suicide and just ASKING for issues. Old pre emissions truck, it aint GOOD for it but wont hurt it none either.

Issue is what happens is an idleing emissions truck cant get upto temp or speed easily so a ton of soot enters the system. More then a regen can easily handle. And over time it builds up far faster then it will at highway speeds and starts to clog the system. Ive seen some techs who claim it can reduce the useful life span as much as 75%+ depending on how much you idle

 

I don't see any melted metal, just a ripped metallic gasket.

 

Read through all your stuff, seems like you came to the same conclusion that i did, mini split preference, cheap chinesium (12v) or household units, cant escape the 500-800 watt draw, so 400-600 ah lifepo, dc-dc charger (dual with solar capabilities) and an inverter (for 110 stuff)
