Trucking companies use certain gas stations

The trucking company typically allows you to fuel at one CHAIN of truck stops, NOT just one location. It's like an employer telling his employees he will provide lunch for employees at the nearest McDonald's, not everyone in the company MUST eat at THE McD on 104 Main street in Toadslime, Arkansas. The trucking company will use a fuel card that offers certain discounts on the fuel purchase and the chain f truck stops will offer a certain discount from the pump price if the trucking company meets certain requirements. Think of your employer to stop at any Staples to pick up office supplies for your work, but if you go to Office Max you have to pay out of your pocket and submit the receipt and wait to be reimbursed for the purchase.

My last job did this. It was a dedicated route and they told me to only fuel at TA/Petros even though I fueled anywhere anyway.

Buy more fuel, get higher discounts, makes sense. I worked for a co. that we had to get 50 gal here and 75 gal there etc. PITA ! !

I always liked working for those that gave me a card and let me, as a professional, use my own judgment.

I also didn't go where the megas went.

RockinChair, Seth0194 and tscottme Thank this.

Well alot of companies would say only fuel at pilots, we get discounts there.

Then pilot got caught in a big fuel rebate scandal. The owner claimed he didn't know it was going on.

So even after getting busted. Alot of companies still say go to pilots for fuel. And I'm thankful I don't have to go to those places.

    Numb Thanks this.

My company had 89 truckers when I started and let us fuel anyplace. Now they have 220 trucks and made their own fuel program that tells us were they want us to fuel. You can see the price difference can be $0.20 per gallon at the same locations
