So how much experience does your husband have and why is he looking to change companies?
Lonesome Thanks this. -
The owner of the company said he only does lease-purchase because then the drivers are more committed. I am having my doubts, but hubby wants to give it a shot. His pay will be $2.75 up to $3 something per mile. He will have to pay for his fuel but he will get a discount on it and he's done the math and is sure it'll work. I'll stand beside him and hope it works.Lonesome Thanks this.

"More commited" is just code for trying to restrict someone's options. If someone was treated well there wouldnt be any concern of them leaving.Still undecided Thanks this.

He's been driving just about our whole marriage, about 12 years. Most of it has been flat bed but he's also done grain hauling, refrigerated, and dry van. He prefers flatbed. Excellent driving record. The company he works for now is a local company that gives him home time whenever he needs it and he's home every weekend, but their trucks are older and his truck has been in the shop just about every week. They also have them dead head back to Blytheville at Tenaris to get loads, so they are only getting one load out. They are paid a percentage of the load, 25% and they just don't look for loads coming back. They also expect them to make it from Blytheville Ar to Midland TX by the following morning and Tenaris is always late getting them loaded, so their drivers drive with paper logs and adjust some things to still get their load there on time. They run their ##### off. Recently he's been singled out by the safety lady, being written up and put on do not dispatch for minor, petty things. He is just tired of it. All the owners of the company talked to him and have tried to get him to stay. We both really love his current company but he really wants to make more money and eventually own his truck. His boss won't do a lease purchase and after taxes are held out, our health insurance, etc, his take-home pay is HALF of what he actually makes every week. If they would find them back hauls to Blytheville or anywhere, it wouldn't be so bad. He just hates running 700 miles empty.Lonesome Thanks this.

The question is, does he have enough saved up yo do this lease purchase venture? Many of the guys here will advocate for that. There are any number of flatbed companies he can work at as a company driver and make good money and still have good home time.Lonesome Thanks this.
