That aint legal even with a permit
If it can be reduced to legal ie pull a piece off then that’s what you gotta do
Annual permits are great but be careful how you spend your money
Ga is 12w and 100k almost useless for me
Tn is 12w and 125 k worth the 500 bucks
Al is 12 w and 125 k or 150k but anything over 100k you still have to send routing to state for approval
I think SC is 100k but very pricey.
If I’m not sure how a piece is gonna axel out I will just order max weight for the first couple of states and then scale it
A lot of machine manufactures only have dry weights on the spec sheet, oil and fuel can weigh a bunch
Make a cheat sheet on everything you tote with 5th wheel setting and axel weights and spacing’s
It will save you a lot of time later on
When you buy your tags make you use max weights you can tote, some states will not issue a permit unless your registered for the weight your toating
Please don’t use little girl chains, use something that is rated for what your toating
I see a lot of folks that use 5/16 or 3/8 chains and that scares the stuff outa me
My rule is if it’s got a place to tie it down it gets a chain
Know what time sunrise is to the second:biggrin_25525:
OS-OW can be a lot of fun but also a large PITA
    Have fun

I found that the Sunrise Calculator on this site is most useful because it covers SUNRISE and SUNSET times--just put in the city and state and it gives the times for whatever city for a whole month:

    http://www.sunrisesunset.com/custom_srss_calendar.asp

    Another tip:

I take a Sharpie and write what I am hauling on the upper left corner of the windshield--(W)ide, (H)igh, or (L)ong (sometimes ALL three: WHL) and when I make a turn, I have a little reminder for what I need to do extra.

A painful lesson: look for scrape marks on the pavement. If a car-hauler or RGN hauling heavy left a scrape mark, avoid that area of pavement or grab a lower gear and DO NOT STOP OR TURN SHARPLY or you will hang up the trailer. DO NOT stop at a Railroad crossing unless you have to. A hung-up trailer means a 3-4 hour delay and around $450 to fix if you have to call a wrecker. And don't think for a moment that just because you are in a truckstop parking lot that you won't get the trailer hung-I've seen a lot of hangups at the fuel island and in the parking lots at the biggest truckstops. Drop your trailer (if you can-car haulers can't) or pull in and back out.

Invest in at least an airhose with glad hand hook-up and at least ONE 20-ton air-hydraulic low profile jack at Harbor Freight $60-$80). This will save you several hundreds in tow bills.

It blows my mined at the amount of guys i see get hung up, if your not sure get out and raise your trailer if your running a hydralic detach and if ya do get hung up 9 out of 10 times ya just have to raise the deck hieght but i see to many guys running rgns that should'nt be pulling van.

This!!!!!!!, please use real chains. Atleast 1/2". Rememer to use ratchet binders and not cam-over! Slip hooks are your friend and you are going to want to get a wide selection of shackles. Because some things you are gonna haul don't have tie down points. Just a hole for a shackle. Plus you might want some of those t-hook things. Alot of farm crap uses them.

You can get the T Hook thingies at a wrecker supply outfit.
The skackles can be had at a local rigging supply house
Don't cheap out on tie down stuff
It's your butt thats in front of that hunk of iron:biggrin_25525:

Not to mention that it is your butt if it falls off!

I seen a local guy hauling a small wheel loader around the indy loop one night. He had one chain through the articulation. He made a quick turn to avoid a car and the loader fell off and killed a family of 4 beside him.

When I get around to rolling one of these top heavy RT cranes I tote it's my intent that the wagon will still be atatched to it when the dust clears:biggrin_25525:
