Anybody Familiar with Driver Leasing

I have worked for 2 different companies that used driver leasing. Both driver lease companies were different. The first place I worked, I had a real bad experience all around. Crappy pay, Crappy equipment. One day I refused to drive with a bad steering tire on (until the tire was fixed of course). I was FIRED for it and I am sure my attitude about the situation didn't help me. I received a "quit under dispatch" on my DAC, and it was a nightmare trying to get it straight. Still tough to verify employment sometimes because I'll list the name of the trucking company, but on my record it will show up not as the trucking company but as the leasing company. So now I list both and make a note of why.
The next experience was actually a good one. The company I was working for was looking for a reason to fire me (and lots of others as their business was dropping off dramatically). Well they found one with me. I complained that the shop broke my brand new Texas Ranger cb during the install. No CB Shops, no drivers, nothing. Only the company shop could install a radio. So anyway, I complained, they fired me and they gave me a big hassle about my final paycheck (at one point threatening to not pay me at all). One phone call to the driver lease company and within an hour the owner of the trucking company called me in and gave me a check. Including extras that I've never gotten anywhere else. "Ooops, we forgot to pay you for this load, oooppss the weight on that load was wrong, here's the correct pay (more money)." I even got prorated vacation pay! I don't know of that's a common thing or not but I never got it before that. I was only expecting about $6-$7 hundred in pay. I got over a thousand

So, like I said, one was bad (a major hassle getting the DAC straightened out) and the other was good. They got me my pay, and more then I expected at that.

 

Hmmmm! Driver Leasing and Employee Staffing? Yes, I can spell them both without peeking.
