Just read this and went out to the truck. Drivers side tractor bags are really soft, I think you guys may have hit it. Gonna fill with air and shoot with soapy water later today. Will report back.
Fast air leak to 60 psi, then slow

A lot of phantom air leaks are caused by the air selector valves on transmissions.they can slow leak into the inside of the trans and escape out thru its vent unheard and un detected by soap water. If you have an air shifted manual isolate/shutoff the air supply to if and see if the leak stops. I have ball valves on all of my road rangers. Makes a great anti theft device as well. Those phantom leaks can take a day to leak the system to zero or an hr and never be seen or heard while doing it. It isn’t uncommon to have to leave an OD trans selector in either DIR or OD when parked in neutral because it will otherwise leak thru it’s valves.

Hey thanks SmallPackage! Very interesting! I have a manual 10-speed Meritor-Rockwell trans where the “Selector switch/slave valve on trans” is leaking. So basically I must flip the Hi—Lo selector on the stick before getting on the road, OR ELSE it won’t allow me to shift into High side for approx 30 seconds (until it fills up with air). Runs fine the rest of the day. Gonna try your test and cutoff air to see if it stops the leak. Big Thanks Buddy!

I had a driver who complained about this. I went and checked out the truck. Leak in the bag after it rolled off the base. Took me 30 seconds to find it.RepoweredRookie and Magoo1968 Thank this.

When spraying with soapy water, I use a pump-up garden sprayer and saturate everything. Grab a beer take a look spray some more lots of soap. After some time even the smallest leak will have lots of bubbles.
Remove the leveling valve on the suspension and cab air bag, put extra air in all the bags. Saturate around the bags.Last edited: May 3, 2023

That’s a really good idea using the garden sprayer and removing the leveling valve pin. I noticed a tiny leak on the airtank valve, and another tiny leak on the filter-regulator. Gonna install tomorrow and test.mtoo Thanks this.

So wanted to report back on what I found. It looks like the pressure relief valve on the top of the tank was damaged barely leaking. After I fixed that, the filter regulator before the splitter slave valve started leaking a lot. Still a tiny leak, but stays above 60 psi for almost 24 hours. Thanks for all the ideas guys!

It's definitely a seal; line leaks don't just leak down to a certain amount then just stop. So look at anything which has a seal. Joins, valves, purges, etc.
RepoweredRookie Thanks this.
