Reading about the same as before 1.3 on 1 1.5 on 20 and 1.8 on 40. Switched out 18 ft truck stop coax for 12 ft dx eng coax that was recommended to me.
Edit: just switched the coax yesterday and he is the only person I've talked with on the cb since the switch. Monday was talking with a base station in washington approx 15-20 miles away.

Might be his setup. If he's in Cascadia the stock antenna is a " if you can see 'em you can hear 'em" antenna.

He's in a pete 579. I'm guessing it's on his side. I'm adding a few more ground straps I figure the more the merrier. I haven't been in a ideal location to test swr as well since I put the new coax in so gonna find a good open area today on my way to socal to test.

I figured out your problem. The base station can hear you from 20 times the distance as the friend with the Freightliner cascadia. The problem isn't your radio or antenna system.dltdamien Thanks this.

So the quality of someones set up plays a role in them receiving my transmissions? Made contact with quite a few different base stations in the Inland Empire (SOCAL) area this morning farthest contact was 40-60 miles however he was at a higher elevation so maybe that played a role.

Okay, I know that was probably a pretty obvious answer but me not having the full knowledge thought at the very least he could receive me but not transmit out as far.

Careful, your starting to get into the distance that rabbi talks, and without the famous tech tune. Ha.Timin770, dltdamien and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

How far he talks is greatly determined by the receiving station and what type of antenna system they are using.dltdamien and Night Stalker10 Thank this.

Yes sir I agree. It's actually kind of nice to see someone new to CB radio, follow the advice of others, and then gets some decent miles out of their setup. Even if it's a base station they are talking to, it should give them a boost of confidence in their new mobile setup. Plus it proves what you've been saying about a factory tune.Vampire, Dennixx, rabbiporkchop and 2 others Thank this.
