In my experience, the explosion rate is close to 10%.

90% of the time they just go flat and I notice it the next morning during pre-trip. About 10% of the time they pop, violently.

If this guy is puncturing dozens of tires, he is either successfully playing Russian roulette or there is a reliable method of damaging a tire without it popping.

This video is about inflating compromised tires, but the same princple applies when you run over a nail or purposfully damage one. A sudden decrease in the structural integrity of a fully inflated tire (like drilling) can have violent consequences.

Whatever they are doing it with the tires can go down very slowly. I drove 2 hours home on mine. I found one flat at a fuel stop close to the house. Next day, 13 flat. Tiny, tiny holes. I'll try to post some pics of my tires.

The investigating officer said this was the case with several people and also why he suspects lots more were hit and didn't know it was vandalism because they went flat the next day.

Some went flat right away, others like mine didn't.

So I have at this point 6 cameras on my truck. I have to still install one camera inside trailer and one on back of trailer.
One front camera, 2 side cameras from mirrors , 2 side cameras from back top of cab extenders, and one in the back of the truck by the license frame.
If you walk up to truck in any fashion you will be seen on truck. I was once a bad dude and fairly shady. That benefits me well when looking at how to protect my assets. I have similar set up in my home as well with all possible angles caught.

What that means is that that 10% of the time you have a tire explode, you have run an underinflated tire for enough time for excessive heat to build up causing the failure.
