my wife has a friend whose husband went to Driver Solutions for training and had a pre-hire for PAM transport.
after his school and riding with a trainer ,instead of being put in a solo truck was forced to drive team. is this something i should look out for with them? with other carriers? this was 6 years ago so may be irrelevant but i wanna be prepared, i WILL NOT do the team thing unless it is my wife or best friend ETC.
any insight into this would be appreciated.....

It does happen, I know I worked for a company that hired 40 drivers in a week and at the end of orientation would tell them we didn't have enough trucks so they had to team. The drivers was very unhappy and well lets just say the instructor (which was me) took a BUNCH OF VERBAL ABUSE. I hated the momment I had to tell them, but what could I do, I needed a job to support my kids. Did I understand their anger OH YEAH, I WOULD BE MAD TO, RIDING WITH A STRANGER ETC. I would never do that again, instructor! So it does happen, maybe ask that question up front, just say you won't team me once I get through class will you, and if they say no hold them to it! Be firm and let them know you will not team with anyone else. That company no longer does it though! Don't stress over it though, I am sure many don't do it to the drivers

The company is that slimy to not tell the driver up front, just sounds another one of those companies to avoid.

Yeah but that was a LONG LONG time ago! They do not do that anymore honestly. Different people running the show and we do not even mention teaming people up

I am new at this forum thing. Doyou have any info about these offers of 7 on/7 off or 14 on/7 off. Transport American is offering that now and Roehl has offered also.

    thanx, TeeH

Go to another company if you dont want to team. Keep it simple. You might have to team with a trainer for a short time if you don't have experience and they want to ensure you are competent to run an expensive rig.

I would love to hear how you new guys make out with PAM. I don't consider myself bashing them. I simply stated my husband's and my experience with them. Let me just say that my husband never refused a load, gave good ETA's was pleasant to the customers and to his DM and the miles were never there plus down time between loads were horrible. Plus he started out at .22 cpm. I hope you have better luck. This was in 1999. Maybe things have improved but we will never give them a second chance. The only good thing that came out of PAM was we didn't have to pay to go to cdl school and it gave him driving experience. BTW hubby went to C-1 School out of Newport, Ar. I had a friend just complete C-1 School in St. Louis, Mo. He liked the instructors there. My friend is now with Arrow Trucking (flatbed).

I must tell you that I am still sitting and waiting. Three weeks after graduating and I still am sitting on a couch waiting to hear from them. I can't help but think that if this is the way that they treat me before I am even on the truck how it is going to be when I get on the truck. I am still hoping for the best and I WILL keep you posted on my progress there.
